Their benefits:

  1. Ensure consistency in formulas
  2. Avoid repetitive manual updates
  3. Help to simplify complex formulas while maintaining ease of comprehension

As illustrated in the example below, you can created a calculation metric called VPD, which ****can replace the longer formula above it. This allows you to represent the formula in a more intuitive and easily understandable manner, as it condenses potentially complex concepts into simpler terms.

The same metric can be reused in any chart, to create alarm rules or formulate any setpoint control (see the example below).
